SHELBY BATTLEY, PORTLAND SOFTBALL: The sophomore picked up a pair of pitching victories while helping the Raiders go unbeaten at a weekend tournament. Battley struck out nine while earning the pitching win in a 2-0 victory over Grand Rapids West Catholic. She later earned the pitching victory in a 7-1 victory over Grand Ledge. Battley is 12-4 in the circle this season for the Raiders, who are 27-6.
PARKER JAMIESON, LANSING CHRISTIAN BOYS GOLF: The sophomore had a strong week for Lansing Christian by earning medalist honors at a pair of events. She was the medalist at the GLAC Championship meet Monday after carding a 75 at Eldorado. Jamieson earned medalist honors in Thursday’s Division 4 district by shooting a career-low 70 at The Emerald. That career-best round helped the Pilgrims qualify as a team for regionals. Parker has a nine-hole average of 38.3 and 18-hole mark of 74.8 this spring for Lansing Christian.
CHASE JOHNSTON, MASON BASEBALL: The senior drove in three runs while leading the Bulldogs’ comeback from a 6-1 deficit in a 7-6 Diamond Classic quarterfinal victory over Division 2 No. 5-ranked Haslett. Johnston drove in a run in the sixth inning and followed with a two-RBI double to center field that tied the game in the seventh. That set up the winning run to score later in the inning for Mason.
GRACE LOUNSBURY, WILLIAMSTON TRACK AND FIELD: The junior was a part of three first-place finishes as the Hornets claimed the team title at the CAAC White meet Wednesday. Her efforts helped Williamston to a team score of 140, which was 39 points ahead of runner-up Portland. Lounsbury swept both hurdles races and was also part of Williamston’s winning 800 relay team. She won the 100 hurdles in 16.45 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 48.50 seconds.
